Goals/Objectives:

McIntyre Group (MIG) is a chemical company located in the Chicago metropolitan area. MIG wanted to take their entire product line database and make it available for viewing on their website. Additionally, MIG required that visitors supply demographic information to obtain access to the product line and other sections of the website. MIG needed a means to administer these various elements through a form interface in a web browser.

MIG had an existing product database with complex data relationships that needed to remain unchanged. Each product has an unlimited number of associated properties, making for complicated database queries and output strategies.

Process:
|
Webmaster, Inc. subcontracted this job through a third-party development company. The third-party provided a specification for the job and supplied the MIG database. Webmaster, Inc. developed a back-end management system allowing for products and product attributes to be added, edited, and deleted on demand. Webmaster, Inc. then created a front-end display area. Once MIG signed off on this segment of development, Webmaster, Inc. built the visitor management program to allow MIG to collect demographic information and restrict access to certain areas of the site as needed.
