Goals/Objectives:

Out of the Blue, Inc. (OBI) has patented a unique, niche-market product targeted at hair salons. Their marketing plan included mass mailings and a corresponding website through which orders could be placed. Because they only sell one product, OBI did not require a shopping cart or other specialized software. OBI took advantage of Webmaster, Inc.'s First-Site-Done-Right package (no longer available) to build their custom website on a limited budget.

Special Needs:

OBI required a secure product order form through which visitors could purchase their product. They also required that the form perform automatic mathematical calculations as the visitors moved through the form.

Process:
|
Webmaster, Inc. met with OBI to define the scope of the website, the various sections, and the underlying function of each section. Once the general structure of the website was determined, Webmaster, Inc. recommended the First-Site-Done-Right package being offered at the time. OBI agreed, and provided their company logo, product photographs, and their brochure. Webmaster, Inc. then developed two different mockups of the design for review and approval. When a design was agreed to, Webmaster, Inc. integrated the text and functionality into the design. OBI reviewed the site for errors and changes. Once the site structure was agreed to, Webmaster, Inc. created a JavaScript to perform the autocalculations required in the secure form. The site was then uploaded to the web server and search optimization operations were performed. SSL (secure transaction technology) was implemented.
